The Otherworldly Writing Room
Plot Twist: You Actually Finish Your Novel
Calling all writers who are ready to stop carrying their story alone and finally bring the worlds, characters, and adventures living in their imagination to life.
What’s the Otherworldly Writing Room All About?
The Otherworldly Writing Room helps fantasy, sci-fi, and horror writers stop trying to write their novel alone and start building consistent momentum toward a finished story they're proud to share.
How's the book coming along?
Such an innocent question.
And yet for many writers, it feels like a punch to the gut.
Because you've been meaning to get back to it! It’s just that…
After writing the first few chapters, you got stuck.
You spent MONTHS worldbuilding only to feel like you need to start from scratch.
LIFE has been taking over. I mean… when are you supposed to find the TIME to write and be creative when there’s so much going on?
In the meantime, your story is still there, looming in the back of your mind. Your haunted town or alien civilization left half-finished, and your characters left wondering what their ending will be.
Because, let’s be honest, writing a novel is HARD.
Especially when you’re…
Trying to do it all alone
Receiving advice from people who just don’t get your genre
Prioritizing literally everything and anything other than your story!
I KNOW that feeling.
But WHAT IF… getting STUCK didn’t mean stopping dead in your tracks?
Imagine having a place to go every. single. time. your novel hits a roadblock.
A space filled with people who get it… who understand why you're obsessing over a magic system, a plot twist, or a character arc that won't quite land.
And alongside them, a certified book coach who specializes in fantasy, sci-fi, and horror.
And imagine being able to access that support without trying to squeeze another Zoom meeting into your calendar where the coach may or may not get around to your question.
Just thoughtful guidance whenever and wherever you need it.
A coach in your pocket.
A community in your corner.
And a place where your novel stops taking last place.
“I feel so fortunate to have worked with Leslie on my novel! I’d nearly completed my first draft but was frozen with uncertainty as to what to do next. I knew there were problems with my manuscript, but I couldn’t figure out exactly what was wrong. Leslie's assistance was invaluable; she provided extensive feedback, all delivered with great care and kindness. She pointed out things about my work that I couldn’t possibly have seen, and her questions and comments were thought-provoking.
I feel much more confident now as to what to do as I start the revision process. I have Leslie to thank for guiding me through this crucial phase!”

Why I Built The Otherworldly Writing Room
I built the membership I wanted as a fiction writer.
Yep, although I spend a lot of time helping writers as a book coach, I’m a writer too.
And for a long time, I was trying to write my stories mostly by myself.
Like a lot of writers, I kept pushing it to the bottom of my to-do list. I’d spend weeks trying to solve story problems on my own. Writing, rewriting…. And rewriting again. And in the end? I wasn’t getting very far.
So, I started seeking out support.
I joined local writing groups, online memberships, the works.
And while I met some wonderful people, I kept running into the same problems.
The support these groups offered? They revolved around live meetings that didn’t fit my schedule. And when they did fit my schedule, the coaches rarely had time to address everyone’s questions, including my own.
And most of these communities felt TOO BROAD. They welcomed writers focused on every genre, which left me feeling alone and a little awkward when I wanted to nerd out on my new horror idea.
As I kept searching for support that finally felt RIGHT, I realized something. Maybe… what I was looking for, just didn’t exist yet.
I was looking for support that was flexible, that fit around REAL LIFE. And support from coaches and a community of people who understand why you’re obsessing over a haunted house, cursed artifact, or villain you end up rooting for.
So. I built it.
A space designed for fantasy, sci-fi, and horror writers who want flexible support, expert feedback, and a community that makes it easier, and more enjoyable, to keep showing up for their stories.
"Leslie is absolutely fantastic! I had a rough idea for my novel, she immediately saw what was missing and suggested amazing ideas.
I really enjoyed working with her: she's a true expert and takes care of important details. There was also room for me to incorporate ideas that I have come up with, which made this project so exciting to me. It was a true collaboration.
One more thing that I adore is her honesty, if an idea of mine sucks she will tell it and comes up with better suggestions.
The chapter outline turned out fantastic and it’s great help for me to finally start writing.
I cannot wait to work with you again on my next novel!"

“I found Leslie a joy to work with. She was very supportive of me as a first-time writer, guiding me through the process with great clarity. Without exception, her suggestions were insightful and helpful and added a great deal of polish to the final product. I’d wholeheartedly recommend working with her and would love to do so again.”

Plot Holes? Let’s Fix That.
-
Nope! The Otherworldly Writing Room is intentionally asynchronous. I built it this way because writers get stuck while they're writing, not necessarily when a call is scheduled. You'll be able to get support from the slack community 24/7 and submit smaller questions to me on your own schedule without worrying about missing meetings or rearranging your life. I will be on Slack regularly on weekdays, and responses will typically occur within 48 hours.
-
You can submit up to 2,000 words per month (including context). The submission window is open from the 1st to the 15th of each month. And feedback will typically be returned to you within 5 business days.
Click here for a video walking through the type of feedback I will provide.
That might be:
A scene or chapter excerpt
Part of your outline
Character profiles
Worldbuilding material
A plot problem you're trying to solve
A story structure question
A developmental question about your novel
If you're not sure whether something fits, just ask! The goal is to get you the support that's most helpful for where you are in the writing process.
-
Not at all.
Whether you're outlining, drafting, revising, or somewhere in between, you're welcome here. Many story problems are easier (and less painful) to solve early, but support can be valuable at every stage of the process.
-
The Otherworldly Writing Room is designed specifically for writers of adult fantasy, sci-fi, and horror novels.
That means the coaching, feedback, and community conversations are tailored to the unique challenges, and joys, of speculative fiction.
-
Absolutely not.
Your submissions will be read by me, personally. Every piece of feedback comes from a real human who understands fantasy, sci-fi, and horror, not a chatbot, algorithm, or automated tool.
